Foxholes

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lR1Hk0FVi_k

Together ~ for KING & COUNTRY (feat. Kirk Franklin & Tori Kelly)

Two are better than one … ~ Ecclesiastes 4:9 NIVUK

When it comes to someone else’s foxhole, we tend to fall into three different categories. The first thinks, “How awful!” They may even yell down, “Praying for you!” But then they keep going. The second stops, calls down a prayer for the person in the foxhole, but then also moves on, praying again when they think about it. The third climbs down into the foxhole and remains till the “owner” vacates. I will confess, I have been all three types, and sadly, the second more often than the third. Climbing into someone else’s foxhole is hard, costly, and inconvenient.

When my first stepmom’s cancer got worse, my dad said people stopped “comin’ around.” He said it was if they thought it was “catchy.” He said the same was true after he and my mom divorced. As the kid, I can attest to that; I never saw some of my childhood friends, again. The adults didn’t want to “take sides,” and like I said, climbing into someone’s foxhole is hard, costly, and inconvenient.

Over the years, it’s cost others to step into our foxholes. It cost my aunt her time. It cost others their time, money, and even food, as one friend fasted for us—even during her vacation! In my post-COVID season, several people have jumped into my foxhole to pray for and encourage us. And thank God for them because I have been healing!

Maybe you’re in your own foxhole and it’s about all you can do to pray for God to help someone else. That’s OK. But if you’re able, and as Holy Spirit leads, consider climbing into someone else’s foxhole. Yes, it will cost you, but the return on your investment is exponential, both for the other person and for you.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10,12 reminds us why we need each other:

Two are better than one …

if either of them falls down,
one can help the other up. …

Though one may be overpowered,
    two can defend themselves.

We need each other! The cunning devil knows when we’re alone he can defeat us and God’s plans for our lives. But a friend and fellow believer will remind us that Christ is in our midst. “A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

If you have a need, I’d love to pray for and walk with you! And if you have been praying for me, thank you so much! Remember, we weren’t meant to walk alone. That’s why God gave us each other.

By Faith in the Name

I Choose to Worship ~ Rend Collective

By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see. ~ Acts 3:16 NIV

Cancer. Yesterday, a relative received the news that this evil word has infected his body.

Cancer. 1a. A malignant and invasive growth or tumor… 2. Any evil condition or thing that spreads destructively; blight, (dictionary.com).

How does anyone overcome this evil word? The same way we overcome every other sickness and disease: Pray. Seek wisdom and guidance. Walk in faith. Worship and praise God. Possibly make some lifestyle changes. Then wait with expectation.

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] will gain new strength and renew their power… They will run and not become weary, They will walk and not grow tired. ~ Isaiah 40:31 AMP

Expectation. Something you look forward to and assume will happen. When you’re waiting on the Lord, you’re looking to Him with great expectation, as you believe He will move! I love Jesus’ words to Father God when He was standing outside of Lazarus’ tomb. “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me…” (John 11:41-42 NIV). If we are co-heirs with Christ, can’t we also know that Father God will hear our prayers?

There’s a story that Graham Cooke tells about a woman with an inoperable tumor who wants a word from the Lord. Knowing that Graham has the gift of prophecy, she sought him for an answer. Graham said that God didn’t give him anything for her, but said she should seek God in this matter, then worship until she hears from God. He said that the responsibility is on God to speak, not on her to hear, but to keep worshipping until God speaks. Peter and John also said the responsibility is on God and no one else.

A man, whom scriptures say was crippled from birth, was begging from those entering the temple each day. When he saw Peter and John, he asked them for money. They said, “Look at us!” The man looked with expectation. “Then Peter said, ‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk,’” (Acts 3:1-6 NIV). It wasn’t money, luck, or even Peter or John who healed the man. We’re all healed the same way: “By faith in the name of Jesus...It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed [us].”

Whatever is coming against you or your family, don’t let it knock you down one more day. Come against it in the Name that is above every name, even cancer: the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth who came in the Flesh.

Believe Only

This is a Move ~ Brandon Lake and Tasha Cobbs

But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. ~ Luke 8:50 KJV

Do you believe in miracles?

Around the end of August, God laid a friend on my heart, so I reached out to her. Two weeks later, after no reply, I reached out again, because she was still heavy on my heart. After two more attempts, I called someone who lived nearby. Though 1500 miles separated us, I knew I needed to reach her. When I finally heard back from her, I discovered why. My friend was battling stage 4 cancer – her 5th bout with cancer – alone.

I felt scared for my friend and knew we needed reinforcements. After praying, I reached out to those who know her…and many who don't. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we prayed for and encouraged my friend. And God did what only God can do: a miracle!

Three months after God first pressed me for my friend, she told me the doctors can't find any cancer anywhere in her body and chemo has been suspended indefinitely!

In Luke 8:41, Jairus, a synagogue ruler whose daughter was dying, fell at Jesus' feet to plead for his daughter's healing. When Jairus and Jesus arrived at the house, many said it's hopeless, as she'd already died. But Jesus pushed aside their doubt and, to Jairus, said, "Fear not. Believe only." Are you in need of a healing touch, a life revived, a relationship made whole, a miracle? Jesus says to you, "Fear not. I AM here. It may not look the way or in the timing you think. But only believe that I will make it whole."
